Mediums are everyday people who have a special ability that allows spirits to give messages from the afterlife. The objective of a mediums work is to prove survival of the human personality after death, and to help the bereaved come to terms with their loss. Sittings with mediums are not for fortune telling, but are experimental sessions to provide evidence of survival. Any attempt to communicate with spirit is, by it’s very nature, purely experimental and therefore, results can never be guaranteed.
What is Mediumship?
Mediumship can be defined as follows: The process by which a human instrument, known as a Medium, or Channel is used by one or more discarnate spirit personalities for the purpose of:
- Presenting information, Verifiable or otherwise.
- Causing so-called Paranormal activity to occur.
- Channeling forth certain types of energies.
- Manifesting themselves for objective examination andor for identification.
Mediumship takes on two forms.
Mental Mediums: Mental phenomena is demonstrated through the mind of a medium.
Mediums identify three forms of mental mediumship:
- CLAIRVOYANCE – When mediums see the spirit.
- CLAIRAUDIENCE – When mediums hear the spirit
- CLAIRSENTIENCE – When mediums sense the presence and the thoughts of the spirit.
Physical Mediums: Physical phenomena is of such a nature that it is usually demonstrated only at private seances. Any person sitting with the medium can hear or see what is happening. My means of Raps, Audible voices or materialized figures. The spirit people convey intimate information about themselves, their recollection of their earthly lives and details of their lives in the spirit world.
Mental Phenomena is the type most often demonstrated in public.
TRANCE MEDIUMSHIP is a form of mental mediumship in which the medium is overshadowed by the spirit communicator and allowed to speak directly through the medium.
What is a Spiritualist Medium?
A spiritualist Medium is a believer in spiritualism. Modern spiritualism began in 1848 when sensational spirit communications in Hydesville led to rapid developments throughout America, eventually reaching Europe, including Britain. Mediums who demonstrate in spiritualist churches are carefully monitored by the Spiritualists National Union (SNU). Which helps to ensure that their mediumship is to a high standard.
What is a Psychic Medium?
What is a Psychic Medium? This is a term that has recently come into common usage, meaning someone who works as both a Psychic and a Medium. All true mediums have psychic abilities anyway, so the term Psychic Medium is somewhat of a misleading term. However television, the media and the public’s misunderstanding have hooked onto the word Psychic Medium and I guess it’s here to stay. 🙂
Being a “Sensitive”
What does it mean?
Well, for starters, A “Sensitive” is an individual who has a uniquely perceptive sensory system…They are highly sensitive. They are more sensitive to light, sound, emotions, feelings, energy & environmental conditions. They are basically much more sensitive than the average person to their surroundings. Sensitives also read their own and other peoples feelings very easily, and often have high levels of empathy and awareness of others needs. They also have more ability than average to reflect on matters to think,and develop wisdom. Many have strong vocations to one of the spiritual paths. Sensitives also tend to have strong intuition. Many Psychics and Mediums are Sensitives as well.
The Gifted Ones
There continues to be much controversy surrounding the use of Mediums, Psychics and Sensitives in the world of Paranormal Investigation. The argument being that what these people see, hear, or feel cannot be proven without a shadow of a doubt, through scientific methods.
It is true that as investigators we cannot prove everything that people who possess these “gifts” sense. But,when their findings and Scientific findings mesh, one cannot simply toss that aside. – We feel they certainly can and do have a valuable place in paranormal investigation.
